Air Dryer Filters
The air dryer filter, also called the air dryer cartridge or canister, removes moisture and oil from the compressed air in truck, bus and trailer air brake systems. When the desiccant is saturated, water reaches the valves, tanks and brake chambers, causing corrosion, sluggish braking and winter freeze-ups. This page groups replacement air dryer filters for the main dryer systems used on commercial vehicles.
Types and Threads
- Standard desiccant filters for general air brake applications
- Oil-coalescing filters (such as PuraGuard-type) for systems with higher oil carry-over; do not substitute a standard filter for a coalescing type
- Spin-on air dryer cartridges, most commonly with an M39x1.5 thread; some DAF applications use M41x1.5
